Sdel
So, with it being the weekend, we are on cat watch. I hope he either didn't eat it, or it passes uneventfully because this is my daughter's cat. The only cat we have that will give her the time of day....and she's recently been talking about missing our cat that died 2 years ago around this time. Crap. Pawz4me
I'd give your vet a call. I've heard that some recommend giving kitty some vaseline or adding psyllium husks to their food to help the string pass. But I don't know if those are widespread recommendations or not. If your vet isn't open this is the kind of thing that I think most e-vets would give advice about over the phone. :grouphug:
Plink
I'm no help, but I now have a nursery rhyme stuck in my head: "Sing, sing, what shall I sing? The cat has eaten the pudding bag string...." I hope your daughter's pet will be okay.
SparklyUnicorn
Once one of my cats ate a bunch of plastic Easter grass. Of all dang things! She threw all of it up. That was the end of that problem. Hope the string thing resolves itself.
Catwoman
I would call the vet for advice, as well. Do you know what type of string it was, or how long the piece may have been?
JFSinIL
As long as Kitty is still eating and drinking and filling the litter box and does not seem in distress....wait a bit?
Cinder
We had a cat that ate a rubberband. I wouldn't have known except I found a bit of it hanging out the other end. I managed to pull it out. Cat wasn't too pleased about that. Well neither was I. Hope your kitty is okay!
happi duck
When I was a kid our cat ate a shoelace and we did not know until my mom woke up early one morning to find a cat with two "tails"! (Our cat wasn't hurt) I hope everything ends up fine for your kitty!
datgh
I had a cat that had a fetish for eating curling ribbon. It usually came out as a clump on the other end but I always worried. Hopefully the string will "pass uneventfully"!
lailasmum
It'll probably pass happily though I know when I had a cat that ate something similar the advice was to not pull out anything you may see protruding if the string doesn't come out at one time. Instead cut it off. If it's caught and you pull then that could cause serious internal damage. Our cat was fine, no problem whatsoever. Sdel
It was a candy necklace string. So far this morning he is his usual lover boy self and it's been almost 12 hours.
hjffkj
Want to hear a gross short story? Once I noticed something hanging from my dogs butt, it looked like a string or a few pieces of long hair. Not thinking it would be anything else I just yanked it real fast. It was a tampon! And the screech the dog made was hilarious!
