cave canem
My student is in Spanish 1 and would like to watch something like TV shows or movies to improve comprehension of Latin American pronunciation. Can anyone make a recommendation besides soap operas or other racy content? Thanks! Lee in New England
chiguirre
Most dvds have a Spanish language track. I'd also recommend Destinos which was designed to teach Spanish as a foreign language. http://www.learner.org/resources/series75.html Destinos is a great supplement, but it goes really quickly for a logic stage student, so I wouldn't recommend it as your main curriculum. cave canem
Thanks for the Destinos tip. We have avoided dubbed films because of the disparity between the mouth movements and the sound.
Random
Destinos is great, but it does move pretty quickly. There isn't much that is racy, but there is a romance towards the middle/end of the series. We enjoy Salsa Spanish episodes: http://www.gpb.org/salsa/term/episode Classical Academic Press has free audio files: http://classicalacademicpress.com/spanish-for-children-primer-a-program/#.VIDkDme9ank We also enjoy the Sara Jordan Spanish songs: http://www.sarajordan.com/ Have you seen Easy Peasy's Spanish lessons? http://allinonehighschool.com/full-curriculum/spanish/spanish-1/ The links she provides often have audio reinforcement of whatever concept is being taught.
