Sunshine Mama
If I am planning to use this with two students at the same time should I buy two student books? Do you actually do the writing in the student book?
SilverMoon
My DD wrote answers and stories in a notebook and didn't mark in the student text at all. I didn't buy the TM, but we wouldn't have done the dictation anyway. If you plan to be very involved in the lessons you could read it aloud to them and use just one book. librarymama
I would buy one book for them to share and have them write their answers in a notebook. I am planning on doing that myself.

Reefgazer
The book is intended as a workbook to write in, but there is no reason why your child couldn't write their answers on paper.
FiveOaksAcademy
We are not far into the book, and I'm using it with a 3rd and 5th grader. I am seeing that I could easily use it without the student book at all. I am finding myself discussing/whiteboarding the questions that are in the student text via the teacher's manual then having them do their copy work, dictations, and papers in a notebook. I have the student book but may just have no one write in it and save it for my younger child.
BusyMom5
I am doing it w/ 2 students, and I like having 2 workbooks and the TM. They could share, but I like them reading along as we go. I am not having them write in the book, and plan to use it again w/ 2 students together when my twins are older.
MotherGoose
Having the child write in them is helpful, but not essential.
