Kendall
The Children's Homer by Padraic Colum vs. The Trojan War by Coolidge Do any of you have experience with both books? I have the Children's Homer, but wondered if the Trojan War was a higher reading level or if it was better in some way. Thanks, Kendall
~Anna~
I had both, but we chose to read The Trojan War by Coolidge and really enjoyed it. Never read the other one, so I can't comment on that, but I remember liking the Coolidge one.
Kendall
Thanks for the reply. It is helpful to know that you enjoyed it. I went ahead and ordered it. I have one child that might have time this year to read both and compare them!
~Anna~
We also read the hardback illustrated versions of Black Ships Before Troy and The Wanderings of Odysseus by Rosemary Sutcliff. They were great!
shukriyya
No experience with the Coolidge book but Padraic Colum is a favorite for my classics-loving ds. He's both read and listened to several of this author's books. The writing is lyrical, written with a poet's eye to detail and atmosphere.
