Alexigail
We are renting our house and the water is really hard. I also suspect that there is some rust because most of our whites are turning yellow. We can't install any softening systems so I'm wondering if anyone knows how we can 1. Whiten up our pathetic looking clothes and 2. Prevent more yellowing. I've read that chlorine bleach is a no-go with rusty water. I don't know about oxygen bleach. Our machine does say liquid bleach only. I know that Rit makes a rust remover but I have no clue how to use it. I admit I'm a total failure when it comes to laundry. We had it easy in our last home. Thanks for the help! mirth
All I can offer is a link to to soap company called Rockin Green which makes different cruelty-free detergent formulations for different water types. Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Classic Rock. I think the amount of borax is the key to adjusting for minerals in the water. Good luck!
zoobie
Super Iron Out IO65N Rust Stain Remover-4 Pounds 12 Ounces-Multi Pu... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00103XAQC/ They sell it at our DS's baseball concession stand. :) Places like Ace Hardware usually carry it too, and amazon has smaller sizes. It may be the pipes if it's an older house with cast iron pipes. The landlord might replace them bc it can indicate they're disintegrating.
