Night Elf
Not sure where else to ask this. Ds is trying to cite a University website with multiple pages on the different geologic time periods. The page was first created in 1994. Then it kept being updated and modified through 2011. There were a total of 8 people listed on the bottom of the page. He's using MLA format. How does he cite this? Can he just use the most recent update or is he supposed to actually list all 8 people even though they worked on this in different years? No one page lists a single author. The list of people who worked on the site is the same on the bottom of every page.

Night Elf
Mention all 8 people. In what order? Should first name listed be the original creator or the person who did the most recent update?
BrittanyM
You should list them in the order they are written on the document (typically by who was more involved). Also, you can list the first name and put et al afterwards for more than three authors on an MLA format. If you google it you should find examples if that would be helpful. mysticmomma
citationmachine.net. IME you name the lead author and then et.al.
Night Elf
I feel so stupid but I'm still not sure who to list. I guess the creator of the site makes the most sense as the rest of the people are listed as doing updates or modifications. There is no way to know how much work any of them did. For all I know the site was a one page document from the original creator, and then all the wonderful informational pages added by subsequent editors. I did look at the MLA formatting site but it didn't help answer my particular question. Well, I doubt the teacher is going to follow up on these citations so I'll just have ds pick one and run with it.
Liz CA
I think if there are more than three you can put "et al." Here is a website that explains all these MLA and APA rules: http://library.duke.edu/research/citing and https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
