We stayed at a Courtyard Marriott in San Juan, it was great and there are lots of little diners and restaurants in walking distance. The history in old San Juan is neat. We didn't take our kids and so drinking mojitos and dancing with the locals to the fabulous music probably isn't the activity you're looking for. That's what we did and it was super fun.
