Learning French? SOS French?

My dd almost 11 wants to learn French.  What are your recommendations for just starting with French?  Do you think SOS French would be a good option for just getting started?

She has done some Latin, but that is all.

ETA:  SOS is Switched on School House French.  We would do Getting Started with French if it was ready.  She doesn't speak any French yet.

We use the Middlebury French course from K12, have the French Bouquet package from Dish, so we have French cartoons etc., plus Rosetta Stone. It's my idea of French immersion at home, more or less. We listen to French music on YouTube a lot, just for fun, too.

Can you get a hold of Michel Thomas and go through his CDs this summer? Maybe your library has them. They are conversation based and each lesson is pretty short. The transcripts are available for free online if you need them. It might be good exposure to the sounds and structure of French in a low stress way.

There is also Pimsleur French, but the lessons are longer--about 30 minutes, they are slower but will do an excellent job of laying the foundation for conversation and pronunciation, but for Pims its much harder to get a hold of the Transcripts if you need them, but there are some out there.

If you can't get either Pimsleur or Michel Thomas, or if you don't like them then you might look at FSI French Phonology Course which is 100% free but an older course and it serves as the preliminary course for French students in the FSI and is supposed to be used even before FSI Basic French or FSI French FAST.

If she did Phonology this summer/early Fall, she'd probably have a much easier time of it in the fall, no matter which route you take.

Good luck whatever you choose.
