Desert Strawberry
Strawberry momma, how do you keep such quantities of produce? Potatoes, onions garlic, sweet potatoes store pretty well in a 2 bushel basket, or a smaller bin or box. I freeze, dry, pickle and juice the more perishable stuff. We eat it till it's gone, too. When I got a crate of pickling cucumbers, we ate sliced cucumbers at every meal and I still put up over 15 quarts.

littlebug42
The first part of my grocery list always reads:Milk 1/2 and 1/2 orange juice bread (wheat and sourdough) Eggs Meat standards are ground beef, whole chicken, chicken tenders, bacon, and occasionally pork chops or sausage. I buy steaks every few months. I always have butter, olive oil and coconut oil. Condiments on hand are mayo, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, and ranch dressing. There is always cheese and if our schedules are super busy, you will find lunch meat in there as well. I am also addicted to hummus from Trader Joe's. Produce on hand always include salad ingredients like lettuce, carrots, green onions, cabbage, tomatoes, etc. Usually there are apples, strawberries and cantaloupe. I also love peaches and nectarines when they are in season. Always have potatoes and dd12 loves sugar snap pea pods. In our freezer you will most often find frozen peas, corn and mixed veggies along with lots of frozen fruit. Usually french fries are in there too. Pantry staples would be macaroni and cheese, tomato soup, kidney beans, pinto beans, tea, hot chocolate, basmati rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, chicken and/or beef broth, taco sauce, taco shells, tortilla chips, peanut butter. scwendy
Soy milk, almond milk, leafy green veggies, fresh fruit, frozen veggies (green beans, peas, corn), beans (canned/dried), whole grains, coffee. If any of these items is missing from the home, it is not a good day.

kubiac
This thread is great. My kitchen feels naked if it doesn't contain: * Steel-cut oatmeal * Dried apricots (sulfured, California) * Italian-seasoned lean ground turkey * Real maple syrup (grade B) * Soy sauce * Popcorn kernels for homemade movie-night popcorn Omega-3 foods: * Brisling sardines in olive oil * Nordic Naturals fish oil supplements * Flaxmeal * Walnuts Husband lives on eggs, pre-sliced mild cheddar, avocado, melon and mangos. Children beg for scraps.
redsquirrel
Lol, I was just thinking about this because about 1/2 of my shopping list stays the exact same every week. Fridge: 2 lb bag chopped kale 3 lb bag broccoli 2lb bag romanine lettuce lemons garlic fruit bag of avocados Plain yogurt milk (we belong to a raw milk collective, but I will buy at store if we run out) apple cider eggs Tofu and seitan (we have locally made. If that is not in the store then we do without) Pantry: Coffee whatever cereal the kids are eating. Could be granola or raisin bran or wheetabix depending on their mood Lentils pasta tomato products (paste or diced or sauce etc) there is a lot of other stuff that I try to have in the house, but those are the things that we will miss if I run out. And put us in the rooster sauce camp, lol. I have never run out because I generally have 3 big bottles stockpiled. We are awfully spoiled, aren't we? Can you imagine that I live in the NE, yet consider lemons to be a 'staple'? First world problems right there.
