Thyroid Growths Anyone?

My thyroid ultrasound came back with abnormal growths, from what I can gather online this is fairly common with Hashimoto's which I just tested positive for. It is my understanding that these are generally just watched and if they are over a certain size or have odd growth then there will perhaps be a fine-needle biopsy. I don't have an appt with the endo until August so I'm a bit curious about it all while waiting. The GP ordered the ultrasound but admittedly knows nothing about thyroid issues and just said I need to see an endo. They didn't tell me how many growths or what size they were.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I'll share our experience just in case. Dd has two tiny nodules (found incidentally on a CT). They are too tiny to aspirate, so we get ultrasounds about every 6-12 months (for the last several years), looking for changes in size. I always ask for a copy of the report myself, so I can compare the size to make sure someone didn't miss something, when it was compared to the last test. Her ENT follows her for this, since her thyroid function has always been fine (he is actually a neck/head cancer specialist, and I'm much more comfortable with him than the pediatric endo we once saw).

I have several thyroid nodules. They were big enough that they wanted biopsies.  The fine needle aspiration biopsies were no big deal.  The most painful part was the shot to give me a local anesthetic.  I was able to breath through it.  They came back as benign so we continue to watch.  I have had a couple more ultrasounds over the years to make sure that they aren't growing.

Thanks for your info and confirmation of what I had read, they are generally no problem but will need to be monitored and possibly biopsied. `I'm so not used to the idea of regular check-ups or any check-ups for that matter other than pregnancies, that will be an adjustment.
