Just in time for Mother's Day - Literature's Most Horrifying Mothers

Can we add to the list?  I nominate Bella Karol, the mother in Irene Nemirovsky's The Wine of Solitude.  Narcissistic, man-hungry, and spiteful, she neglected her young daughter and fired the governess who was the child's only source of love.  This character makes me feel like Mother of the Year!  :)
