Tohru
We just decided, last minute, for an 11th grader to take the ACT for the June 14 test date. There is a place where you can select 4 colleges or scholarships for free to send the results to. If you leave it blank, do you lose those 4 free notices or can you wait to see your score first, then request the free mailings? TIA
Laura in CA
No; you only have until a few days (a week?) after the test to change the schools or add some. For my kids it took some of the pressure off to know that their first scores weren't going anywhere.
regentrude
No, if you want to use the free score reports, they always have to be sent before you know the scores. They don't "keep". We opted not to commit to sending unknown scores for free.
Brenda in MA
We opted to use the free score reports to send the scores to my son's safety schools since we were pretty confident they would be good enough for acceptance there. Then once we knew the scores, we paid to send them to his other college choices. Brenda
Tohru
Okay, thanks. If it's retaken, can one pick and choose which scores to send? ie: June's math scores with next September's English score.
regentrude
Okay, thanks. If it's retaken, can one pick and choose which scores to send? ie: June's math scores with next September's English score. That depends on the college. Some colleges require you to send all scores, others allow score choice, yet others want to see all scores and pick the highest from each category (superscore). But you can only report the ACT score of each test in its entirety. If a school superscores, they will pick the subscores themselves. you don't select subscores to report. Susan in TN
Okay, thanks. If it's retaken, can one pick and choose which scores to send? ie: June's math scores with next September's English score. We didn't have any schools that accepted Super Scores - it's becoming less common these days - but we did end up paying to send different sets to certain schools because his English score was higher on his first attempt than the second which allows him to bypass freshman English. His 2nd score was higher overall, which increased his merit scholarship amount.
