Saxon Alg.II: Best support CDs/materials?

Recommended Posts

(third edition)

I really saw no reason for DIVE etc. CDs for Algebra I.  I've taught classroom pre-Algebra and Algebra, so I was fairly capable, just pulling Algebra out of my head as needed.

But Algebra II?

I last did Algebra II 25 years ago in high school!  I'm fairly sure I'm reaching the top end of my existing knowledge so I'm thinking I need another teacher, helping us out.  ;)

Check out www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com . They should have a Saxon algebra 2 at your own pace course available for next school year. We used their Saxon algebra 1 this year and my daughter preferred the voicethreads there to the Art Reed dvds which we used for algebra 1/2. All of their courses are free. We used a mix of this and the book. They have a voicethread for each lesson with problem sets and tests online that are computer-graded, but my daughter prefers to watch the voicethread, do the problem sets from the book (we check answers with the solutions manual), and do the tests online. They also offer open office hours if kids need help. Their goal is to have all the levels available eventually---currently up are algebra 1 (http://www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com/course/category.php?id=65) and the in-progress other math levels (http://www.virtualhomeschoolgroup.com/course/category.php?id=98 ) so that you can take a look at them.
