Mary Frances Books?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used the Mary Frances books to teach cooking / sewing / yarn skills / etc? DD has requested to learn to crochet, but eventually over the next 4-6 years I'd like to teach her basic skills in cooking, sewing, knitting, and how to run a home. I'm considering using the Mary Frances books to make it fun for her. She is really into American Girl dolls, and the sewing & knitting patterns are sized for them in the reprints.

If you've used them - what is your opinion of them? What book would you start with? It seems like the cooking book comes first in the series - can you start with a different one without the whole "fairy-tale" aspect being confusing?
