British soccer camp?

My son went to one and had a good time. It seemed reasonably well run and the coaches were energetic and fun. They came home with goofy assignments each night, which was tricky for us because we were actually staying at a hotel at the time.

But then again, we dabble in sports, we're not experts! Maybe a soccer mom will respond...

I didn't do it, but we are going try this summer. My two best friends did it and their kids LOVED it. They liked that everyone, no matter their skill, had a good time and learned a lot. Both each have one kid who is older (middle school aged) and hadn't done soccer and one has an elementary aged soccer whiz.  All three kids had a great time.

This year will be our 8th year with Challenger camps. The past five years we have been the camp coordinators for our camp here. We love it. It is one of the highlights of our year. The coaches are all trained very well and do a good job making sure that everyone has a good experience no matter the skill level.

If you decide to do the camp...you may consider hosting a coach in your home. As a host, you provide sleeping accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner...and in return you recieve a partial refund of your camp fee. It is not a lot of money ( around $80) but it is a great experience. We have hosted coaches every year, and have yet to have a bad experience. They are very courteous and really just want to experience what families in the US typically do. We are still in touch with many of our former coaches, and have actually had a few come back. One came back after the summer was over, and stayed a few days before leaving back to the UK.

As you can see, I highly recommend them :)

My son did one two summers ago. He loved it. It was well run, organized, and I loved how they kept the kids organized so there was very little waste of time with transitions. Of course the coaches change from year to year, but in general I would not hesitate to recommend it.
