Our outdoor furniture is a 30+ year old wooden picnic table.  We're considering upgrading.  Was thinking of checking out craigslist first.  Anyways...

* I like the look of wrought iron, but how do you take care of it and how often do you have to repaint it?  If you have it are you happy w/ it or regret it?

* If you have chairs w/ fabric (like sling back) does the fabric hold up?  Anything special you do w/ it?

* Do you leave cushions out all summer or do you need to bring these in?

* What special things do you do to care for your furniture?  Like do you go out on eat on it come dinner or do you have to wipe if off everytime before you sit down?

* Anyone have a set they love or other recs?

(Looking for dinning and causal seating)

Thanks

Sling back chairs with mesh fabric on metal frame - love these because they dry quickly. We also have a set that has fabric chairs with just a thin layer of padding. This set was given to us and we don't have a cover for it. When it rains, it takes forever to dry out.

We have cast aluminum, it is dark, looks like iron, and very heavy. Ours is Hanamint Newport.

We live in Southern California where we can use our outdoor furniture at least 300 days a year. We usually only bring our cushions in for about 3 months during the winter, it only rains in the winter here. Our furniture is 10 years old and the only thing we've done to it is occasionally tighten a bolt, I send the kids out sometimes with the hose and a bucket of soapy water. I have one cushion that needs to be replaced, that is on the chaise.

That being said, this furniture is an investment. We spent more on our outdoor furniture than the family room furniture.
