What books do you love about your home?

If someone asked you for reading recommendations about the place you live (or someone you've lived in the past), what would you suggest?  Something that does a great describing or explaining the place you live, or that helped you adjust after moving, or that you just love about your current or past home?  It could be anything- history, travel, cooking, literature, ethnography, something totally silly, politics, etc.

Here's a little of what I might suggest (it's heavy on Central Asia, but that my place):

Mexico

The People's Guide to Mexico

Central Asia

Red Odyssey

Turkestan Solo

Hurramabad

The Land Beyond the River

Invisible China

China Road

History of Inner Asia

The Reindeer People

Chasing the Sea

Shadow of the Silk Road

The Art of Soviet Cooking

Western US

Anything by Stegner, but especially Crossing to Safety and Angle of Repose

Virginia

Confederates in the Attic

Seattle

Where'd You Go, Bernadette

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet

How about you?
