Book for parenting possibly gifted child?

My BFF's daughter is hitting all kinds of milestones early, including speech. I know that doesn't mean for sure that she'll be gifted, but do you have any suggestions of books for parents who could benefit from thinking about the challenges that might lie ahead? (They love to read, so it's better for them to read something they might not need than to come to issues and feel clueless.) They live in an area with limited options for education and don't expect to be able to homeschool, so afterschooling would be an especially useful topic.

Thanks for any recommendations.

I would recommend either of these books:

A Parent's Guide to Gifted Children

http://www.amazon.com/A-Parents-Guide-Gifted-Children/dp/0910707529/ref=pd_sim_b_33?ie=UTF8&refRID=1AJFTTE47QY7J87YQJ3B

How the Gifted Brain Learns

http://www.amazon.com/Gifted-Brain-Learns-David-Anthony/dp/141297173X

The first book is addressed to parents, and the second book is aimed mainly at professionals but is just as useful to parents.

Also, for general development, this was one of my favorites when dd9 was very young, buts it's been a long time since I read it:

What's Going on in There? : How the Brain and Mind Develop in the First Five Years of Life
