...................
I so totally know this has been discussed, and I feel like it's pinned somewhere but I have been searching for 15 minutes and I just cannot find it.
Guest OHJoneses
I was wondering the same thing. We are finishing up FLL 4 with my 9yo ds and am trying to decide what to move on to next. I plan to start IEW at home SLOWLY. While my ds has the 'grammar' down, he is a boy and doesn't have much desire to write at length. Nevermind the fact that his handwriting is atrocious. CrunchyGirl
I think there was an Advanced Language Lessons in the works but SWB dropped it to work on other projects like WWS and the high school writing series that I believe is coming (I have zero idea how she accomplishes as much as she does!). warneral
Correct, she scrapped the project. This year we are using Hake 6 at half pace and find it boring. We will be going back to Rod and Staff which my kids prefer.
mamaraby
It would be nice if there was. :0)
Forget-Me-Not
Yep, ALL has been put on indefinite hiatus :( I haven't found anything I love as much. We hated Hake. We are doing Jr Analytical Grammar, but I'm having a hard time getting past the author's copious use of quotation marks. Yes, I'm nit picky, but it bugs me, especially in a grammar program. Murrayshire
My 5th grader has done really well with JAG this year.....she is still working on the Mechanics book and is not bored with it yet. Also, being the workbook girl she is, she has picked up a 5th grade Daily Grams book and does 1-2 pages a day. She'll continue through the summer with DG and star AG for 6th grade. skimomma
We went right from FLL4 to Analytical Grammar (in 5th grade) and it was a very easy transition.
...................
OK Thanks for the info and ideas. I guess we will enjoy FLL 4 and then worry about that afterwards. I looked into Shurley but I hated the method of spiraling grammar concepts. To me, grammar is all very logically tied together and should be studied in cohesive chunks! It makes perfect sense so why tear it up like that? JAG might work alongside a grammar rich Latin program. I'll have to see how much grammar is in LFC B. Critterfixer
Calming Tea, what about Voyages in English? I'm looking at that for my fifth graders. I keep going between Hake and Voyages, but the color in Voyages and the dealing with parts of speech in chapters appeals to me.
...................
I only really need grammar b/c we are starting with Writing and Rhetoric. Voyages would be overkill.
