dragons in the flower bed
So far, all I can think of is 1. - The Byrds 2. - David Weinstone Band The first keeps me sane when the second is what I'm actually having to say to my kids constantly. What songs do you think could be the soundtrack to the life of a homeschooling parent?

cin
I don't know the song, but that scream at the beginning of CSI Miami runs through my head some days :D. I know there's others, but since I just started today, they haven't floated through my head yet.

astrid
Whenever Pink Floyd's "The Wall" comes on the radio, dd says, "OH! Our Homeschooling Song!" She's not referring to the "We don't need no education" line, but more to the "HEY! TEACHERS! LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE!" line, KWIM? Pam "SFSOM" in TN
Okay, love Yakety Yak & the CSN song, but why this one? Workin' in the Coal Mine is what dh and I sing to each other when we've had an extra hard day. When we have a day that we just have to put one foot in front of the other and just Do It. Guest Dulcimeramy
I sometimes lock myself in the bathroom and wail, "Pleeeease release me, let me go." All of mine seem to be ancient songs. Connie Frances. Jim Reeves. "Four walls to hear me, four walls to see, four walls too near me, closing in on me."
Guest Dulcimeramy
Since I might have already killed the thread, I guess I'll add the song that is motivating me at present: To Beat the Devil by Kris Kristoffersen (recorded by Johnny Cash) To connect the dots from this song to my determination to homeschool I'd have to explain my whole upbringing! Don't worry, I won't do that!

hsmamainva
Here's one for my kids: "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones :) "Flowers are Red" by Harry Chapin is one of my favorites. Here's a link to the song on Youtube for you younger whippersnappers, who have no idea who Harry Chapin is! ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noVC5Jt2Gu8
