momsuz123
So my 8 year old dd can read, but hates too. But, she love, I mean loves horses. Anyone know of some good curriculum geared towards kiddos like her? Horse loving girls? She can read at a third grade level, but doesn't like a lot of words on the page. Thanks. heidip2p
This is geared towards 4th-8th but maybe you could read with her to get her going. http://bfbooks.com/History-of-the-Horse-Pack
Gil
I'm not really sure that these count as curricula but there are some nonfiction books on horses appropriate for young kids and on a 1st-3rd grade level. Bellwether Media books are at our library and Pal loves them. They have a few titles on horses.Level 1 -- Horses Level 1 -- Baby Horses Level 4 -- Caring for Your Horse There is also My Very Own Horse Book by Klutz publishing, its said to be a 3rd grade level according to the amazon page. deerforest
The Keeker series was one of my daughter's first chapter book series and it's a lovely and sweet series about a young girl and her pony. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0811852172
Dailynn
You might want to look at this Horse Unit Study. They are called "One Day a Week" studies but there is a video on there explaining how you could stretch them out over the week. http://homeschoollegacy.com
Angie in VA
Winter Promise has an equine science program that my daughter is loving! It has a lot of suggested literature that is horse-related, but the reading is optional and the curriculum can be completed without doing the reading suggested books. YOu can find it here: http://www.winterpromise.net/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=1069 Thank you for this. I thought it was My Father's World that had this unit. No wonder I couldn't find that on MFW's site to share here.
