foxbridgeacademy
Is there a M.S. Lit. program that uses primarily short stories? Looking for something that will be high interest but maybe around 6th grade reading level? I would like something that helps DS learn to think more analytically about topic, word choice, descriptions, etc.... If it has a writing element, that's even better. ETA: Needs to be secular. TarynB
The Mosdos Press literature series is like that, and it works really well here. It uses secular, values-based stories. It is pricey to buy new, but you can find it used if you're not in a hurry to buy. DS really enjoys the stories and he's asked to do the next level next year. We just do the activities in the student text, but there is also a student workbook and a teacher manual if you want to use the program to its fullest. jonnia
Someone recommended this one here: https://www.hewitthomeschooling.com/Materials/mItem.aspx?id=2977 I found it through amazon marketplace for a very good price. I ordered that and just received it last week. It looks great and includes at least one writing assignment for each story. We'll be blending it into our literature studies.
