Radish4ever
Math Teaching Textbooks 3 (independently) We were going to continue with CTC Math, but I changed my mind. We do enjoy that program, and he continues to choose it as one of his educational websites he visits when he’s done with schoolwork and still wants computer time. Language Arts Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool Language Arts 2 and Reading 2 (mostly independently) All About Spelling 1 (with me) I’m also requiring him to read independently for 20 minutes and then write in a spiral about what he read. He can give a summary, tell me his favorite part, predict what will happen next, or whatever he wants. The only requirements I have for this assignment at this point are that he writes 2-3 sentences, dates it, tells me the title of the book, uses capital letters, and uses proper punctuation at the end of his sentences. I’m not making myself the grammar or spelling police or anything like that. History & Science Brainpop Jr. (independently) - I’m asking him to watch a video and take one quiz. Typing Typing Pal (independently) – This is 3 times a week, one lesson each time. Electives Easy Peasy Art – Modern (with his sister/independently) Karate – He’ll be doing this once a week for an hour with a homeschool group we are a part of. His instructor is awesome and has recently been inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. How cool is that?
Laura W.
This year my second grader is doing: Math: MathUSee Beta and Teaching Textbooks 3 Language Arts: Recipe for Reading (this includes handwriting and light grammar instruction. Because he is dyslexic, we are focusing on reading, and not doing a lot of grammar or writing at this point). Bible: CLE Bible 2 Five in Row: It's been several years since I did this with any of my children, so this is his first year with it. He's loving it. He also tags along when we do Home Science Adventures with his older siblings.
Guest
Very, very tentative plans for 2015-2016 school year: Saxon Math 2 and 3 (he will finish Math 1 before May so we'll just keep going unless I need a break) Shurley English 1 or FLL2 or Easy Grammer 2nd-3rd grade, but definitely not all three and possibly not any HWT--probably lower case printing, maybe a tad of cursive ETC if he wants it, continue with Unpopular Opinion phonics series handed down from adult siblings until he finishes them and/or can easily read Henry and Mudge books independently for at least 30 minutes at a time and/or enjoy Magic Treehouse enough not to mind asking for help when needed. Greenleaf Egypt unit handed down from older siblings or Konos but not both Wild Goose Egg kits as available on eBay supplemented with relevant library books Seasonal activities from Earthways Music in some form or another Art in some form or another
