Play Station 3 vs 4

My dh is getting the PS4. He currently has a PS3. Here is his comparison on the consoles.

PS3 is older version obviously by 7 years. The graphics won't be as good, the processor, the speed....ect. It has a single core processor running at 3.2GHz. Graphics Processor 550MHz. There will be lots of games for this system as it's been out for several years (Nov. 2006). Cost is $250.

PS4 is new version. The controller has a touchpad on it. The controller has a share button on it making it easier for making videos and walk-throughs to be linked. It has an 8 core processor running at 2.75GHz. PS4 is 800MHz. Making it sharper with graphics and more detail. Comes with 500Gig hard-drive and it's upgradable. Games will be slimmer in the pickens at first, but realize it's a brand new console and you need games that can be customized for this system. Cost is $399.

In my opinion the price difference is NOT worth having a system that is about 7 years old!

Another thing to consider is that the PS3 is a multi-tasker.  It not only plays PS3 games, but it plays original PS games (PS1).  It also plays DVDs and Blu-ray discs. It will also play your music CDs.

The PS 4, on the other hand, only plays PS4 games and Blu-rays.  That's it.  It is not backward compatible with any other PS games. There is a massive back catalogue of PS3 and PS1 games.  There are few PS4 games, so far, but that is, admittedly, expected to grow, whereas the PS3 catalogue will not (likely).
