Mandylubug
My son loved Where the Sidewalk Ends and all of the poems in that collection when he was younger but hasn't found any older, more mature replacements. He recently was obsessed with the lyrics to The Hanging Tree that was in The Hunger Games and has asked for a book of poems. He doesn't like old English or poems that are too terribly "deep" where he doesn't understand the story. He is currently reading War of the Worlds, just finished The Hunger Games. He loved The Hobbit, etc. He likes a wee bit darker themes than some kids I would suppose. He loves scary stories, etc. Anyway, I just wanted to provide a picture of his type of reading style and hoping perhaps some poems may compliment his likes. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I am putting them on a Christmas list for him :)

OrganicAnn
Edward Lear ? I would try an anthology and then once he finds individual poems he likes, you can get more of the same poet.
