craftymama
Where does one get a good baby doll for a toddler? I'm looking for something cuddly, not super hard and stiff, but not as soft as a stuffed animal. A regular baby doll. Does this exist? *Lulu*
Sister had a Corolle doll at that age that she loved. (Still does, as a matter of fact.) It was small enough to be easily played with, softy body, sturdy construction.... One of our best toy purchases for her.
emcap
My little one has a corolle doll also. Such a sweet face and soft and cuddly. Oh she loves that thing! No other doll gets held for more than a minute but her corolle baby is always with her.
AnIslandGirl
Corolle and American Girl Bity Baby's are both great choices!
Just Kate
Bitty Baby from American Girl is wonderful.
Caclcoca
My daughter loved American Girl's Bitty Baby.
Matryoshka
My dd's absolute favorites were Götz Maxy Muffin dolls. About the same size as Bitty Babies (in fact the Bitty clothes fit them) - she got Bitty twins and never played with them much - she highly preferred the Götz (which are about the same price). Paige
My DD has the Corolle doll too. She got her as a baby and still loves her and takes her everywhere. This is our Baby: http://www.amazon.com/Corolle-Babicorolle-Babipouce-Grenadine-Doll/dp/B000I668LQ/ref=sr_1_20?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1384352501&sr=1-20&keywords=corolle She's soft and most importantly, machine washable. Poor Baby has been through a lot of puke and other unfortunate accidents but still looks new.
Starr
Gotz and Corolle make more than one style and are lovely dolls. I think we have Bitty Baby and one of each of the others. I asked dd if she would like to see one of her American Girl Dolls and she told me it would be like selling your children. :D
AlmiraGulch
This entire thread is giving me the willies. Dolls are creepy.
lynn
DD got her Corrolle doll I think she has Calin. She still plays with her. Perfect first doll for toddler.
trinchick
The Corrolle dolls are a great choice. If you're looking to compare with another option, Madame Alexander makes very pretty baby dolls. DD had a Huggums version that has soft body, soft hands, and soft feet. There's also a My First Baby Doll option with vinyl feet/hands. They have lovely, pretty faces that look like old fashioned babies. Rosy cheeks, and little bow mouths. http://www.amazon.com/Madame-Alexander-Huggums-Onesie-29200/dp/B00004TZY6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1384356220&sr=8-4&keywords=madame+alexander+baby
momma2three
All three of my kids got a Corrolle doll for their first Christmas, and all three still love and play with them every day. They're just the right size, with a cuddly body and pretty face. They're the same size as the Bitty Baby dolls, which means there's a lot of accessories floating around for them: Target always had some really nice ones for baby dolls that size. *Lulu*
There are two sizes of Calins. We had the larger, and it was perfect for a toddler.
craftymama
Thank you all! I think it will be a Corolle doll, but what size. The 12 inch seems so tiny. The 14 inch seems a better size, but I'm not sure. The little girl in question is two. Are there other benefits to one size over the other? momma2three
I'd go for the 14" with the plastic head... that what my children have, and it's a great size for years of play. My 6 year old still plays with her. It's also the standard size baby doll (it's the same size as the Bitty Baby, and Target's baby doll) so it's very easy to find lots of accessories and furniture and clothing for it, at all price points. Guest cwavenger
I don't think buying the American Girl Doll is anything like selling your children. What a strange analogy. I think they are very personable dolls that give a little girl someone to relate to or learn about. If you are looking for doll options and if your budget allows, I would definitely pay special care to choose (or create) the right AGD for your little one. ~Christie http://bit.ly/1gOz8uc
