MFG
I have started watching another British comedy series recommended from Netflix - Monarch of the Glen. It is set in Scotland and has some of the same city/country conflict. I also realized this week that one of the actors is Julian Fellowes, the writer of Downton Abbey. ETA - There are also plenty of kilts.
Cinder
I went from Doc Martin to Foyle's War and Inspector Lewis. Different genre but I enjoyed them all.
Cafdog
Another vote for Monarch of the Glen - and Ballykissangel (Irish show) - very similar to Doc Martin. If you like mysteries - you may enjoy Midsomer Murders - nothing too gory or gross. Very "cosy" in nature.

Cinder
Kingdom (with Stephen Fry) . . . There are a couple of Doc Martin movies as well. Kingdom--it ended too soon! It was fun while it lasted, though. The Doc Martin movies are nothing like the series. In the movies Martin has a completely different personality. But I still enjoyed them. Cindy in FL.
I loved Kingdom, too. I think there was a lot of life left in that show. Monarch of the Glen was good, but I didn't like it as much at the end. I really like British shows, so I recommend: Rosemary & Thyme Midsomer Murders Foyle's War George Gently
soufflegirl
Definitely Kingdom. I really wish they had done another series or a Christmas special or something. Foyle's War and Inspector Lewis are really good too, if you like mysteries. And if you want something more cheerful, Jeeves and Wooster (the one with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie) is awesome. KRG
I second Kingdom and another Martin Clunes series Reggie Perrin. I started watching Finding God awhile back and it was pretty good. I haven't gotten very far into it but I have enjoyed it so far. It has Stephanie Cole in it.

Liz CA
Kingdom--it ended too soon! It was fun while it lasted, though. The Doc Martin movies are nothing like the series. In the movies Martin has a completely different personality. But I still enjoyed them. The one Doc Martin movie we saw was so weird after having seen the series. Liked his persona in the series much better - he was deliciously quirky and awkward.
