Incognito Posted November 10, 2013 Share Posted November 10, 2013 How many large American cities have you at least visited where the "majority" is a minority? San Antonio? LA? NYC? Honolulu? The US doesn't need to "promote" diversity. It is something that naturally happens. I've visited a few of those places. I agree that the US has many cultures, I was trying to show that the way cultural diversity is handled is markedly different, and affects the culture at large. I remember that striking me when I learned about the history of Canada and issues with French separatists. I mean, up until the last federal election there was a large group of people elected in the federal government whose party purpose was to leave the country... Promoting cultural identity while remaining in the nation comes from a desire to support (appease) the Francophone community, but it has a ripple effect across the country in how immigrant communities and First Nations are treated.
