Michelle My Bell
The kids and I had so much fun reading fall and Halloween picture books for the last few weeks that I am wanting to request a new slew of books for November. What's in your reading basket?

Michelle My Bell
Awesome! Thanks for your replies. Do you have any recommendations for any other books that you loved to mix things up a bit? May I recommend my favorite of all time, "Ox-cart Man". May I recommend my favorite of all time, "Ox-cart Man".I love Ox-Cart Man too! Been a favorite since childhood. Cannot get enough Barbara Cooney! We've been reading a lot of Bill Peet this year, and I've found some new titles via the Memoria Press read-aloud lists. Most are well-known, but there are a few that were new to me. Andrew Henry's Meadow, for example, was perfect for my seven year old! That's him. :)
Chelli
I would HIGHLY recommend: Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving It's the story of how Thanksgiving became a national holiday. Great book. ETA: I also pinned this list of Thanksgiving/Fall books earlier this week.

MrsBasil
I'm just starting to build seasonal lists and my kids are younger than yous, but a couple I have that I haven't seen mentioned yet are: The Very First Americans by Cara Ashrose- a quick, surface look at some of the different Native tribes living all over the US when Columbus landed. I wanted to give DS some context for the stories about Indians and Pilgrims. Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet- tells the story of the original puppeteer for the Macy's parade. An illustrated version of Over the River and Through the Woods, we like the one illustrated by Matt Tavares since it shows an old fashioned New England town and country side which is pretty different from modern suburban Colorado. Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson my little guys just love the Bear series. The Thankful Book by Todd Parr Non seasonally, I'm adding in a few more fairy tales Puss in Boots Rapunzel Chicken Little Some children's books that are newer that Amazon is excited about for me The Gruffalo The Spiffiest Giant in Town A Sick Day for Amos McGee Billy Twitters and His Blue Whale Problem Open Very Carefully And one book that reminded some reviewers of Herve Tullet's Press Here, but is about a tree and changing seasons: Tap the Magic Tree I always have our nursery rhyme book in it, which is done by a variety of comic book artists and has been my son's favorite book since he got it. MrsBasil
I am so sorry, I missed the 7-10 year old specification. Balloons over Broadway would be good for that age group, I believe.

If you like The Gruffalo, you must get The Gruffalo's Child. One I haven't seen mentioned is One More Acorn, by Don and Roy Freeman. It might be on the young side, but my nearly 7yo still enjoys it.
