Jaz
Do you have one to recommend? Any subjects are fine. I'd rather stay away from very strong language. I notice I am mostly reading those who agree with me. I'd like to broaden my reading and knowledge.

justasque
Blend of conservative and liberal, Catholic, veers into inappropriate at times, often posts dissenting views, not afraid to change his mind as he learns about at topic (but sometimes tone-deaf on parenting and women's issues), mostly political topics, loves dogs, interesting "view from your window" contest each week, annoying paywall but still worthwhile: http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/ African-American writer, topics include civil war, learning French, football & concussions, as well as current events. Laura Corin
Overseas news feeds might be useful too: the BBC news website has news divided up geographically across the top tabs, so you could see the US from the outside. I always find it enlightening to read about the UK from an overseas perspective. L
livetoread
Yes, my two favorite blogs are Andrew Sullivan and Ta-Nehisi Coates. Sullivan can be a mess sometimes - dramatic and overly crude - but there's plenty to make it worth it. Coates is just a treasure and even when I'm not into the topics, he gives me something to think about. The comment section is the best on the Internet IMO. Usually I despair for humanity after reading any comment section, but Coates is a ruthless moderator, and you bring your A game to the discussion or you go home. T'smom
Not a blog, but I follow the Christian Left on Facebook. They have a website too, Christian Left.org. Some of their posts are sortof an in-your-face kind of thing, BUT they do have a LOT of good stuff.
Sun
Paul Krugman's blog posts are usually quite interesting. It's a good way to learn about another perspective on economics and, especially with all the debt crisis and financial uproar, he provides an interesting commentary. http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/

Kim in Appalachia
The League of Ordinary Gentelmen, also called Ordinary Times I read it off and on. I would say it's liberal, sometimes moderate. I also read the Gawker sites (like Jezebel, that was linked here). If you go to the Jezebel link, you can get to their other sites from that page.
