DD is not good keeping up with small pieces. What can I do to recreate this for less? TIA
Mandylubug
There was an Our Generation chef kit at Target for 17. It wasn't christmas colors, though.
Jean in Newcastle
Our grocery store has gingerbread house kits (with real candies, not faux ones) right after Thanksgiving. Some of them are smaller ones. You can also find red Santa hats pretty inexpensively. You could then sew her an apron.
edelweiss
No idea how to help (I'm not creative like that), but DD just got that set on Friday. I agree that it is expensive for what you get. It is super cute though!
Brenda in FL
For a doll sized apron and hat - you could attempt to make them or ask an etsy shop owner if they would make them for you. For the gingerbread house you could put together your own doll-size kit using graham crackers for the walls, and decorations with mini m&ms, mini chocolate chips, and cake sprinkles. Jean in Newcastle
http://www.strictly-homemade.com/2012/08/free-18-doll-apron-tutorial.html Use red "velvet" fabric and fluffy white trim.
justasque
We have been wildly successful with making AG food knock-offs out of Sculpy. Dollhouse hobbyists have been making Sculpy food for many years, and there's a lot of info out there about it. A great mother-daughter activity. http://agdollcrafts.com/valentine-cookies-18-inch-doll-food/ http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=AG+sculpy+food&oq=AG+sculpy+food&gs_l=youtube.3...183427.189284.0.189398.14.14.0.0.0.0.84.881.14.14.0...0.0...1ac.1.11.youtube.dKpBlwb6Oxo
xixstar
Also if you have a Hobby Lobby or something, check out their ornament section. Sometimes you can find something that will work perfectly in size and scale.
zoobie
Japanese erasers are great for doll food. PP's suggestion of looking for ornaments is smart! I bet the ornaments for the tiny/mini trees would be perfect in size and a gingerbread house should be easy to find. I agree the apron would be easy peasy to make! You can buy teeny glass jars... http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004DMAHFY/ I think they're in the jewelry findings areas of craft stores too? I've also bought super strong extracts that came in tiny little bottles. Oh, and DD uses something similar to this for storing all the tiny AG things: http://www.joann.com/snapware-snap--n-stack-craft-organizer-small-square/7705841.html I found one at Target. It's more rectangular but you can get whatever size you need. Lots of little square sections inside. Completely unrelated to the Christmas set, but cute tiny things--Party City in the party favor bin area has tiny composition books, tiny tape, etc. that's perfectly sized for AG dolls. I think they're 4/$1. I used them for an AG party a couple of years ago, but saw them earlier this year. Didn't check the price...
Mrs_JWM
We made Sculpey food, too! It is so, so, SO cute! Tiny lollipops for mini dolls and bigger ones for regular dolls. You ould totally recreate this set for less. :)

Acorn
I thought of you when I saw this frosting bag and felt cookies. http://agplaythings.proboards.com/thread/79382/gingerbread-cookies I am really looking forward to trying to make clay food in the next few years. My son will like too, so it's great to have an inclusive craft.
