Chrysalis Academy
There are a couple of other Coursera resources that I think are good for the middle grades: For Botany: https://class.coursera.org/plantknows-001/wiki/view?page=Overview and the related book What a Plant Knows, which my library has. I also liked Ellen McHenry's Botany, but I guess it isn't free anymore - we downloaded it while it was still in progress, so it was free then! There's also this one, Preparation for Introductory Biology. It has good stuff on chemistry, cells, and genetics that can be used by this age group, IMO https://class.coursera.org/introbiology-001/class
dereksurfs
Thanks, Rose. Udacity has many great options I agree. Those look like two good ones for this age group.

Guest Bill W.
http://thehappyscientist.com/ is one of my favorite sites- good demos that actually work and teach something meaningful (rare combination!) http://www.stellarium.org/ is a free planetarium; I use it before presenting astronomy lessons with my students ...lots of others, but those are my top
