Pretty in Pink
Is it too early for this thread?? :PI have five punks to shop for: 15yo boy, 10yo boy, 7yo boy, 5yo boy, and 2yo girl. Â I've started snagging little things here and there and would love to know what you're planning for your little ones -- and not so little ones. I'm kind of at a loss this year for my 15yo. MomOfOneFunOne
AMDG Â This is the first year that I dont know what to get my daughter. In 14 years I haven't had ro struggle with this. Â She gets 3 gifts and sometimes one gift jas several smaller gifts. Â One will be a pair of shoes she wants for swing dancing AND I'll include a homemade certificate for getting to stay an hour later at the weekly dance than we usually stay. Â Two and three? I have no idea. Â Last year I got her a disposable debit card with some money on it and she really enjoyed that. I consider doing that again but it was just last year so . . . I don't know. Hoot
I have no earthly idea what to get DS14. I'm thinking he may get a cool new lens or monopod for his camera, but other than that I don't know. He hasn't really asked for anything yet. Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
This year I am aiming for a small Christmas. Both of my children do not really need anything or have any explicit wants. As for ds, I have no idea and he has no idea so who knows what will be under the tree for him. Â For dd: Sewing basket with supplies and a gift card to JoAnns Paint by number kit Preemie clothes for her baby dolls (these will most probably come from the thrift store) Manicure kit, bath robe, hair towel Large blank book for doodling

Night Elf
The only thing I know for sure is that I'm getting dd15 an apron. Other than that I have no ideas. I started worrying about this in August.
TheReader
The only thing I know for sure is they are getting a Wii U as a joint gift, and of course a game each to go with it. We might stop there, aside from stocking stuffers, I'm not sure; depends on the price (the Wii U has come down in price lately). If we do something in addition to the Wii U I'm sure it will be Lego based.
Chris in VA
Don't know yet. Ds21 won't be able to join us this year, so we'll have to ship him something--prolly a box of stuff. Ds24 will want videos and books, and we'll prob throw in something else. Dd? She's easy to buy for--clothes, etc.--but to really find something she'd love isn't as easy. I don't know what the budget is yet.  (DH is the hardest to buy for! I'm thinking of getting him a night or two at the Peace Hill cottage...that would be for me, too! lol)
happypamama
Almost undoubtedly, the big three will get Legos. Not sure which ones, as they like a bunch of different characters, but I'm sure there will be a lot of Legos under the tree. DS1, age 8, wants more TinTin books (he's been collecting them for a couple of years), and DD, age 11, wants a camera. DS2 will have a birthday between now and Christmas, so I'm not sure about him. DS3, age 2 -- no idea. DS4, the baby, will probably get his first pair of Robeez, since he'll need them around next spring, and they're a traditional first Christmas gift. prairiewindmomma
Preemie baby is getting a Hape wooden toy or two from amazon. I am making oldest some minimalist-designed wall art based on his favorite things: Dr. Who, Minecraft, and Big, Bang Theory. I will probably throw in some geek themed t-shirt and an electronics kit. Younger son is getting Dr. Who themed building blocks that are compatible with lego and some toobs. I am not sure yet what to do with my 5yod. Catwoman
Ds13 is definitely getting a Playstation 4, and possibly an XBox One if Amazon can fill my order before Christmas (I forgot to pre-order the XBox until the other day, but I ordered the PS4 for day one delivery, so hopefully nothing will go wrong with that!) Â He will also be getting games for those systems, as well as for the systems he already has, depending on what he puts on his list. Â I'm not honestly sure what else he will be getting this year, because he's at the point where he's too old for a lot of things that he used to ask for, so I'll be watching this thread for ideas! :)

Orthodox6
This year, either nothing or something extremely inexpensive. I am counting on the older ages (14 through late 20s) of our children to help them focus on the Feast of the Nativity, and not to worry about gifts. This will be the first year that I cannot "spin thread from nothing". I am not complaining, and I am happy to read about the lovely surprises other parents have in mind for their "littles" ! You give me ideas to keep in mind for other years. :001_smile:

Jen in PA
Lots of Legos, books, and Snap Circuits (8 yo boy, 10 y o girl). A few board games and things from the Mindware catalog. Some American Girl stuff for DD. I have most of my shopping done because we do Hanukkah and Christmas, and Hanukkah is in less than 2 months! Saraswati
My 10yo has a microscope tucked away. My 5yo asked for a baby doll. He'll also get Legos and puzzles, as that's all he likes to play with. My girls like to craft, so they'll get jewelry and bow making supplies as well as sewing and knitting baskets. eloquacious
I was going to go with some Lego and Playmobil for both older boys, and wrapped up recycled infant toys for the baby (who, being 1 month old, won't really care much what he's getting), but after the older two got their Legos and Playmobil confiscated for refusing to keep their room clean and two separate urgent care incidents in one month involving tiny Playmobil stuck into ears and noses (both times the older boy!!), I might just have to wrap up select bits of the toys I already had and give them back... or not. kbutton
I have boys, 9 and 5. IKEA storage that they think is cool, like some of the stuff that looks like a bench made of a locker. One of my kids likes projects and collections, so we need some storage and workspace! Outdoor toybox--we have one right now, and the younger one needs one to call his own with a controlling Aspie older brother! eloquacious
I wish my mom would get us a second bin for the Nilo table, to store all the stuff she'll be getting the boys. :-P Â Between presents on my husband's side and presents from my parents, we could totally get away with giving them zero toys and they'd be fine, but then I'd feel guilty. We'll probably get them one "learning toy" each (Sum Swamp for the 5 year-old, not sure about the 3 year-old) and a book or two, as well as one Lego set each. Â The problem with books is that I am constantly scouring Goodwill / Saver's for books, so we are always getting new ones. They already have so many, and frankly, they wouldn't appreciate "new" books as opposed to the good used ones I find, so it makes little sense to pay for new ones. I should be saving up the used ones I get but then I'm always so excited to share them with the boys! Â On the bright side, this thread inspired me to look into the Amazon wish list I had set up, and I noticed that one Playmobil set was at its lowest price since I added it (25% below where it was when I added, a full $20 below retail) so I told my mom and she pulled the trigger. :)
Alte Veste Academy
The boys want Mindstorms EV3 and more Legos. DS10 wants magic supplies, a new scooter, and stuffed birds. I am shocked by the low reviews there, because ours held up really well in Texas (with lots of heat and enough rain to rust it if it was prone to that). Maybe the quality has declined, as we got ours years ago. I will say it took a long time to put together. Anyway, those climbers make a great gift, but I wanted to comment to say that aside from being a great climbing toy, they also make great forts. I got my kids a play parachute that completely covered it and they spent countless hours under there.
