alef
The kids and I made orange rolls this morning. This involved fractions, measurement, elapsed time, multiplication (doubling the recipe), geometry (if the original recipe says we should roll the dough into a 12x14 inch rectangle, how big should our rectangle be with twice the amount of dough? They had to figure out it wouldn't be 24x28). Breakfast and math in one fell swoop :)
Jean in Newcastle
Great! I wish my kids were still little. Sigh. I haven't figured out a way to work Algebra 2 into baking breakfast  Enjoy your orange rolls. That sounds delicious!

At least topology lets you have doughnuts and mugs of coffee as legitimate mathematical demonstrations.

Hmm, wonder if you could write a function to model the way blood glucose levels rise and fall after a meal? And investigate differences in that curve if you eat a high carb or low carb breakfast? I'm sure there's some way to fit it in... :) Yep, I'm enjoying my kids being young.

There probably is a way to do that but I'm not smart enough to do it! And that's another reason why I miss the days of having young kids. I was still smart enough to figure this stuff out!
