Selilng stuff on ebay - packing breakables?

I've started selling stuff on ebay recently to help supplement my tiny WAHM income & try to save back enough to put an a/c system in my house before next summer. So far all I've sold is easy to package stuff - scout patches, books, clothing, etc.

I have some vintage glassware items I'd like to list, but I don't trust myself to pack them for shipping. What's the best place / way to do this, and is it acceptable to pass the cost of having it professionally packaged on to the buyer in the shipping cost? I know our local UPS store does professional packaging & guarantees it will arrive without breaking or they refund the value, but not sure how doing that would work with ebay.

On a related note - how does selling large items that are unable to be shipped work as well? Would I be correct in assuming the buyer must arrange for freight?
