Evergreen State Sue
My ds wants to buy a game used from Amazon.com, but the seller is in Japan. Amazon.com says the buyer is responsible for an import tax (or something like that). Does anyone know what that means and how much extra money we are talking about? The game with shipping is list at only about $35.
Flowing Brook
I paid a import tax recently. I bought a hundred dollars worth of stuff from India and paid a 3.00 import tax. I am not positive but I really do not think it will be that much.
Lanny
Probably, the U.S. Import tax/duty/customs fee/ etc., that you would pay, on something so inexpensive, would be very low. How would they ship it to you? Via the post office? If via the post office, you might be able to get an idea from your local post office. It might be such a low value item that they would let it pass, at the U.S. Port of Entry, without assessing any fees, but better to check first, before you buy. Here in Colombia, books come in without paying anything. I have 2 textbooks for DD that will (hopefully) be shipped from Miami tomorrow. But, on other things, there are combined taxes up to 26 or 29%. Please remember, that when you buy something from overseas, if there is an issue, probably you are not going to be able to return it for an exchange or refund. So far, our luck with purchases from the USA has been very good. GL
