KrissiK
This year on our second round of Ancients I'm combining history and literature books for DS and I have to share that our first two choices were hits. "Hittite Warrior" by Joanne Williamson (historical fiction, very well written) and "Gilgamesh the Hero" retold by Geraldine McCaughrean. We just finished Gilgamesh. DS loved it. And I must say that book lent itself very well to a "book talk". I admit to doing a terrible job with "book talks", but the crises and character development and all that in Gilgamesh's life were pretty spelled out, so we were able to have a half-ways decent literary discussion. If you're looking for good books for the Ancients, I'd highly recommend those. Now, on to "The Golden Goblet" and the Egyptians.

brookspr
My son has enjoyed the Golden Goblet so far. Hittite Warrior and Gilgamesh are next on the list for us. I hope he likes them as much as your son did! They are easy for me to read quickly as well so I can have discussions with him about the books.
