I always recommend Geometry between Algebra I and Algebra II.

It is very easy to find Algebra I review materials to keep that material fresh while you are working in geometry, but not very easy to find Algebra II review materials to keep it fresh.

Algebra II programs are generally designed with a lot of review built in because Geometry is usually scheduled between Algebra I and Algebra II.

Precalculus programs usually start off at a running pace. If you don't remember your Algebra II, you are sunk.

If a student struggles with Algebra I, placing geometry between the two algebra programs gives the student a breather and a chance to mature before tackling Algebra II.

If a student finds Algebra easy, then geometry is generally more of a challenge, and having Algebra II come afterward is then a huge relief.
