mommyto4QT
We're finishing the read a loud of Charlotte's Web. Our kids have requested to watch the movie soon. Which is better, the 2006 or the 1970's one?? I want one that is similar to the classic story and not changed to add violence, etc. Thanks! nansk
We have the old animated movie, which is close to the original story.
PrairieSong
I have loved the book since I was a little girl, and the animated 70's movie was a huge disappointment to me. It's been a long time since I saw it, but I remember I hated it. I haven't seen the newer one.
TracyP
We liked the new movie. I haven't seen the older one, but the newer one did a good job sticking to the story line. There are a couple character changes that add some comedy, but everything else was very... by the book.
tammyw
Watch both! Then you can discuss the differences between all :)
PeterPan
Haven't seen the new one, so I'm biased. However do you know that the older one has Debbie Reynolds singing and is ADORABLE and not to be missed? :)
Farrar
They're both good in different ways so I don't think it actually matters so much - neither of them are bad. I think the newer one is a bit closer to the book, but I think wanting a movie to be just like the book is always a recipe for disappointment, so I wouldn't go based only on that. twoxcell
You could watch both but I prefer the newer one. The old one has a certain charm but it is fairly cheesy. ;)
Aurelia
We liked the newer one. A lot of the 70s/80s cartoons grate on my nerves so badly I can't watch them.
sassenach
We liked the newer one.
