mama2cntrykids
I have wide ruled notebook paper, but I'm not sure if I'm expecting too much by thinking she'll will be able to use this without problems? Is there anything "special" you use, or have used for your 2nd grader, or should I just go with the wide ruled stuff?
Arcadia
Both my boys had used wide ruled paper since Kindergarten with no issues. They used the HWOT paper for handwriting practice. My younger brother had problem with wide ruled paper when he was young and my parents just used a red pen to draw a middle line for him when it comes to handwriting practice. Saves them from buying special paper.
go_go_gadget
You could try her with a small stack of wide-ruled and decide from there. Both of mine have used regular notebook paper from first grade on.
Wabi Sabi
We used regular wide ruled with no problem.
mama2cntrykids
Thanks everyone! We will go with wide ruled and see how it goes.
matrips
Since we use hwot, I just buy the 500 page stack of HWOT loose paper for them to use. Regular paper didn't work as well for us, but I haven't tried it again since K.
Karen in CO
For second grade last year, I used college ruled for handwriting practice since that is what we have on hand. For all other writing, I used unlined paper which allowed her to draw and write on the same page so that everything else we did other than handwriting was more creative and free. MissKNG
I just use wide ruled notebook paper for my rising 2nd grader. Her handwriting isn't that terrific but I still want her to practice between the lines with paper that you would use in normal, every day life. My3girls
2nd grade lined paper template at superteacherworksheets.com. Can print it with or without a drawing window at the top. Wide rule looked too messy. Their little letters went all the way up. I think their fine motor skills aren't developed enough to write that small neatly or accurately yet. We'll probably use it through 3rd grade.
Guest
HWT narrow paper is what we use. Mine also learned on unlined paper.
