LucyStoner
It's scary that she had undiagnosed gestational diabetes. I am glad she is ok. And that the baby was born safely. I would assume that it was a serious case of GD because that is one big baby.
Elfknitter.#
I'm kind of curious as to how her GD went undiagnosed.
trlt
My second baby was 11lbs 14oz when he was born...no gd...just a big baby. I feel for her!!
Parrothead
I had to do the conversion. That baby weighted 13.44 pounds. He looks bigger than that. Would that weight necessitate needing to bee hooked up to those monitors that way?

Would that weight necessitate needing to bee hooked up to those monitors that way? Yes, the mom had undiagnosed gestational diabetes and lack of treatment can cause the baby to have underdeveloped lungs and very low or very high blood sugar at birth. Babies of moms with untreated GD can be very lethargic, low muscle tone, you name it. I have a friend who developed VERY severe GD during her two pregnancies and despite excellent treatment still had 11.5 lbs babies that spent time in the NICU for lung issues.
