lea_lpz
How long did it take for you to test positive? I am 3 days late and tested yesterday with a faint line and today, too. I decided to take a test with my doctor and she said we had a faint line, to act as thoughi were and things looked promising so if i don't get my period within 1 week to test again. It took awhile to get a positive read with my last 2 children too. I had a miscarriage 4 months ago and got pregnant on the pill so didn't test until I was 6 weeks along since I had no reason to believe I was pregnant, so that came out positive fairly quick. How long did it take for you to get a positive read?
rjand6more
Faint positive IS positive. :) At least in my experience....
momto10blessings
Faint positive IS positive. :) At least in my experience.... Agreed. With one of my kids I only had faint positives. Blood work was all fine and he's a healthy 7 yr old now. Congrats!
gardenmom5
keep in mind, some tests are more sensitive than others. (price has nothing to do with it). I was at least a couple weeks late because I was convinced I wasn't. I did lots of research on false positives, and test sensitivity. GSOchristie
10 DPO with two of my kids, 14 DPO with my 2 m/c and Piper, but only because they were surprises and I didn't think to test :). I agree, positive is positive, faint or dark. Congratulations!

Yes, often the darkness of the line has to do with how much dye is in a particular test. I have gotten positives at 13 or 14 days past ovulation. Sometimes they have been kind of faint. milovany
This is why I buy pregnancy tests in bulk at early-pregnancy-tests.com -- less than $1.00 each! Then I can test every morning, LOL. Agreeing with others -- ANY kind of line is generally thought to be a "positive" result. (Congratulations!)

I was thinking of just getting some at the dollar tree. Do those work ok? Can't beat the price.

Do those work ok? Can't beat the price. The dollar store ones usually work great. Just be sure they're pink dye instead of blue. I've seen some really wonky results with the blue dye ones. IHaveNoIdeawhatIAmDoing
I've always used the dollar store tests and, when pregnant, I've never gotten anything but a faint line. But I usually try not to take a test until I'm a week late, so that I don't get my hopes up if it's a chemical pregnancy.
happypamama
My first two -- I tested the day before my period was due (and I was very sure of ovulation dates), and the test was negative. Not even a hint of a second line at ten minutes. I was so sure I was pregnant, both of those times, and I was so disappointed. I threw the tests in the trash and hopped in the shower. Twenty minutes later, the tests had very faint second lines. And both times I was very definitely pregnant. I learned my lesson with my third and waited a day or two longer to test. It came up clearly positive. My fourth -- the first test was at about when my period was due, but it was kind of wonky, not really clearly positive or clearly negative, so I waited a couple more days and got a different style of test, which came up clearly positive right away, even though it was mid-day. It was clear enough that I was able to take a picture with my (lousy) phone camera and send it to DH. This baby -- welllllllll, it was a few weeks into the pregnancy that I actually took the test. I've never seen a positive come up so fast and so dark; the positive line came up within seconds, even before the control line. I vote that you are pregnant -- congratulations!!! ocelotmom
My first was faintly but clearly positive relatively early. I wasn't really tracking my cycle closely at that point, so it could have been a few days early or a few days late. I'd thought my period was about to start due to implantation spotting, and when it didn't start shortly afterwards, I took the test, implying that it was around day 11 or so. My second I was testing around day 13 or 14 on a dollar store test, and it was very very faint, as was the one I took the following day. Faint enough that I was questioning whether it was real despite knowing "a line is a line". With my third, I was already about 10 days late when I tested, and it was a very dark positive very quickly on a dollar store test. I've used the $0.88 tests from walmart that had lines pop up outside the time limit (say, within 15-20 minutes, and getting darker over time) when I wasn't pregnant. Not typical evaps, which are greyish, but lines the same color as the control line, only thinner. Got all worked up about those because there are lots of stories about tests that turn positive outside the time limit still indicating pregnancy, but it wasn't the case for me. Just so you know! (If you buy $14.95 worth minimum, which isn't hard! I just buy 20 or so at a time and call it good.)
kat19
I tested when I was 3 days late with a test I had in our cabinet(it was expired so hubby didn't trust it), so we bought a cheap walmart brand and it was a faint positive. I'm due in December
