Jean in Newcastle
Hello Everyone! Today we're going to have a Shakespeare party. Grab a hat from the bin (the jester's hat is mine) and grab a script. We'll have fun reading a play aloud! (I actually would love to do this sometime but logistics have not allowed it in real life. Thus my virtual party. In real life, we're gong to see Henry V acted in the park tonight.) If you had a chance to do a Shakespeare party, what play would you choose? If you had a chance to do a Shakespeare party, what kind of hat would you choose? (crown? miter? bonnet? peasant's cap? jester's cap? or? ) Of course what kind of hat you chose would determine what kind of a character you played. Today's totally random question: What is your favorite bird?
Happy
I love Twelfth Night, so I'd go for that one. I'll wear a cute 'boy' cap as my disguise. I've heard Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly, The Avengers) hosts Shakespeare parties in his home often....everyone reads a part. I'd love to do that with a bunch of Shakespeare lovers. I love purple martins--they wheel and soar over my yard scooping up gnats and skeeters. Love watching them.
Rosie_0801
I am trying to hard to learn to like Shakespeare and am not managing it, but I'll join in your party and wear a bonnet. I've never worn a bonnet and don't think I'd look very good in one and this would be my chance to find out for sure! I love our crimson rosellas and the rainbow lorikeets we had at our last house. I also like Australian magpies. I heard a story when I was young about how the Aborigines believe the souls of the departed are carried by magpies, and since then I've felt compelled to be polite to them. I do love their warbling. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimson_Rosella http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Lorikeet https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Magpie
Parrothead
Favorite bird - African grey. Favorite Shakespeare - taming of the shrew. I have no idea what kind of hat I'd wear. Maybe a mantilla.
FaithManor
Hmmmm Much Ado About Nothing tickles my funny bone. So I would don a veil or a mask for the masquerade. Does this count? I'm purchasing the Star Wars Shakespeare book and taking a couple of scenes and making g scripts if them in order to do some funny dinner theater with some 4-H kids. Favorite bird hmmmmm...probably the little goldfinches coming to our feeder right now They entertain me. But, we've recently had a l.arthemis butterfly on our porch, and I love watching it flit about.
AK_Mom4
I'm a huge fan of Antony and Cleopatra, so I will don one of those cute Egyptian Queen headbands. Good Shakespeare is few and far between here, but I would love to see a staging of Othello. Birds - well there were two glorious bald eagles flying in tandem over the softball field where we were watching a game this afternoon. I am also rather fond of the ravens that dive bomb my cat in the back yard.....
Sparkle
I think a Midsummer Night's Dream would make a fun party. I guess I would wear a fairy crown and some wings :) Favorite bird...not sure I have a favorite, but I've always liked ducks. I also like the mourning doves that come to my feeder. Killdeer are possibly my favorite birds to watch. I love their quick little fake outs.
Jean in Newcastle
Just got back from Henry V. It was very well done. I love watching my ds16 get the jokes and laughing big belly laughs at Shakespeare. My hat is always the jester's hat. I love playing the fool. ;) ;) I love birds. I think one of my favorite birds is the lowly spotted towhee. I think they are so beautiful.
myfunnybunch
A Midsummer Night's Dream is not my very favorite (though I like it) but the party costumes would be a lot of fun. My favorite bird...blue heron. Or osprey. Or the little chestnut-backed chickadees that come to the feeder in the morning. I can't decide!
