mom2bee
Okay, so I am looking for something like FIAR, but with books that are still in print and fairly easy to find. I have a copy of B4FIAR (Before Five in a Row) and it seems cute, but some of the first books that I wanted were out of print and prohibitively expensive. *sigh* Is there anything out there like the FIAR series, but whose books are still up date and in print? Acorn
Most of the FIAR books are in print. We just skipped the few that weren't available from our library. Check out Purple House Press. I especially love their clearance section.
craftyerin
There are actually very few FIAR volumes that are out of print, and we are finding no lack of material to cover at least 2 (and likely 3) years of school using FIAR as our core curriculum. freeindeed
Rainbow Resource has literature packages for each FIAR volume. The packages have most of the books, except for the ones that are out of print. Purple House Press reprinted Cranberry Thanksgiving and The Giraffe That Walked to Paris. My older children loved our FIAR years, and I'll be teaching FIAR to the K-2nd class at our co-op this coming school year. But, if you still want a different program, you could look into Peak With Books or Picture Book Activites. I have not used either of these. That's a real simple and easy way to get a FIAR experience without the FIAR. Also PWB, which is for the younger ages mostly.

Our library has all but a couple of the stories used in this book...
