Toothpaste in the sink ...

Does it bother you when other people who use your bathroom sink leave bits of toothpaste in it?  My daughter (age 24) does this from time to time and it annoys me.  I have told her to take care of it and she usually does, but doesn't understand why it bugs me so much.  Is this normal (the bugging part)?

My 12 yr old twins used to do this until I banned the from brushing their teeth in the downstairs bathroom. I make them clean their own bathroom once a week, and honestly, I don't look.

Out of sight, out of mind.

It drives dh bonkers, me not so much but I'm still bothered by it.

It grosses me out too, and I don't have particularly high standards when it comes to cleaning. It's spit! Anything we expel from our bodies should be removed from common surfaces. If she sneezed, would she leave boogers on the counter? Of course not! (12 year old boys, uh, debatable...)

I tell my kids to rinse it off, not because it bugs me, but because it eventually has to be cleaned out. It just builds up and builds up and needs to be scraped off or whatever. If you don't clean it out for yourself it means you think that someone else should be cleaning up your mess. That means you think I am supposed to follow behind you and clean up what you leave behind. That isn't fair to me because I was not put on this earth to clean up your messes.

It's like not putting your own tissue in the garbage, leaving your dirty dishes on the table, or leaving your apple core on the couch. Eventually someone has to pick up your mess and it's not going to be me.

The toothpaste thing bothers me too, and for the reason above. They're all examples of being careless and sloppy about life. Lucky for my kids I am there to train them to fix their careless ways. And if I happen to only see the toothpaste in the basin just as they sit down to eat / watch their favorite programme / go play with a friend then that's when they clean it up...
