Does anyone else remember ... back in 2008 ...

Right before we switched over to this board... another online homeschool board had just shut down and most of the people on that board flocked over to this one and started posting really weird stuff?  When that started happening this time, I checked to see if the people starting these threads were somehow connected to one another.  It doesn't seem to be the case though since they all joined at very different times.

Oh, you mean that alternative-lifestyle mom-of-triplets who decided she hated SWB and this forum?  And she became a troll all over the internet slamming TWTM?  Yes, I remember that.  SWB had to ban her repeatedly.

 

And if you're also talking about that lady in Georgia who had multiple, MULTIPLE drama-filled life issues, whom we all prayed for, and who turned out to be a fraud...yes, that was weird.  The only redeeming thing that came out of that was being able to watch the talents of some of the boardies as they computer-traced her posts right to her home and revealed her identity to the rest of us.

 

I'm sure there were other issues, but those are the worst I can remember.

Yep, I do.  I was on the old board. I came here even before the vegsource exodus , but as a lurker.  Around the time I started posting, people who had previously been using their real names, started switching over to aliases.  Several people thought I was a problem board member who had taken a new name.  I knew I seemed like a newbie when I first started posting (even though I had lurked for a long while), but I thought it seemed like some key people were especially cold toward me.  I stuck with it and finally all got straightened out after one of Linksalots roll calls.  I don't remember how, but an old time, high count person, tried to trip me up/call me out...and I finally figured out what was going on.

I started frequenting this board after another one shut down, but don't remember what it was called. The Homeschool Library, or something like that. Anyway, I had dropped in here occasionally before that, on the board before the old board too, usually with classical ed or WTM specific stuff in mind. Before that other board I mainly posted on the Mothering boards, but they got too huge for my taste.

There has definitely been more but my pregnancy brain can't remember specifics ;) But the bulk have always been calling out trolls drama ;) The two shenanigans you mentioned were ridiculous. It was funny how WTMers went in to action and put an end to the crazy Georgia troll.
