How long to keep home-jarred items?

I have some cranberry sauce from 12/11 and blueberries from 7/11 - can I keep still or do I need to toss??? I jarred them myself and the button is down/sealed. I have read not to keep things longer than a year or two, but other places say longer. What do you all say?

This is good to know. I usually toss after a year (not that much lasts that long around here), but perhaps I will be keeping it from now on. I just made strawberry jam, went to put it in the basement and found four from last summer hiding behind something. Gave one to the neighbor, but will be using the rest!!

Great! I will try and make more of an effort to open some of these things. I know with the blueberries, I was rationing them and now two years later, I probably could have used a few more of these jars. ;)
