IEW Questions

HELP....please.

Anyone used the IEW Structure and Style (for teachers) and the IEW Student Writing Intensive at the same time? I know they sell it together.

I bought both this year and now I'm not sure how to incorporate them at the same time. It seems that IEW Structure and Style DVDs are primarily for the teacher with tips or tools for the student to work on. IEW Student Writing Intensive has it's own set of DVDs for the student and their own worksheets.

Soooo, how do I use them both in the same year?

Do I dedicate one day a week to IEW Structure and Style DVD...and then....another day a week to IEW Student Writing Intensive?

Thanks

Not an expert, I only have teaching writing with structure and style and a theme based pack, but I believe that structure and style is to teach the teacher and the student writing intensive is for the student. So you would watch the teacher portion for yourself and the student portion with your child. At least that's my understanding.

Good luck

Soooo, are you saying....I watch the Teaching Writing with Structure and Style ALONE...and then I watch the Student Writing Intensive WITH THE KIDS??

If so, when do I incorporate the Teaching Writing with Structure and Style techniques into their daily work? Aren't there daily excercises that go along with TWWSS? Wouldn't that be like doing TWO writing programs (mine and theirs)?

And...aren't the students taught the same techniques through the Student Writing Intensive? It seems like I'd be teaching them the same thing that is included in their DVD (SWI).

Sorry...still so confused!

Thanks for your help!

When you watch the Teaching Writing with Structure and Style DVDs, Andrew Pudewa teaches the IEW method to you. I seem to recall a few little writing exercises for you, the mom/teacher, to do. Then you watch him teach the method to your kids with the Student Writing Intensive DVDs. There are daily writing exercises for your kids to do after they watch. You should be comfortable helping and marking them, since you will be familiar with that unit.
