Guest joyamidplentymom
Hi everyone, I am new here. Not new to homeschooling, just this forum and classical education/TWTM. I checked the book out at the library and it is the first version but I see there are more recent versions available. Is there much of a difference between them? Thanks! BlessedMom
Welcome, It is very nice to meet you!! Hope you will visit often. Sorry, I cannot answer your question but wanted to welcome you.
kiwik
The first edition of TWTM is actually the best one to read first. It was written before the peace hill press programmes were written so it gives more info on how to develop you own programme from resources. Good luck. PeterPan
Welcome! The newer editions cite SWB's new products, tweaked some recommended products, tossed the time recommendations, and have expanded explanations on some stuff for writing. The high school section especially got some expansion. So if you're doing high school, definitely get the 3rd edition. I use both my 1st and 3rd and compare them. To me the 1st edition is a classic. :)
Starr
My library holds all three. If you have the first at the library I would buy the 3rd.We love her books and Peace Hill Press!
prairiegirl
Welcome to the board. I like the 1st and 3rd editions. We are entering into high school in the fall and I use the 3rd edition explicitly for this. The 3rd edition seems to go in more detail for the high school years. Guest joyamidplentymom
Thanks everyone! I will put the third edition on hold then!
Hunter
I like the 1st edition 7-8 and high-school science, even though many others hate it. It teaches how to use trade books, and much of the Great Books instructions can be adapted to modern day magazine articles and other current events type science. I don't believe in one-size fits all college prep science textbooks for all teenaged students. TWTM 1st edition is a good resource for lower income, atypical, and just plain "normal" students. The 3rd is good for other reasons.

No More Perfect
Welcome! I only have the third edition but will probably order the first through Amazon one of these days just to see how they compare. Sorry I cannot be of more help but it seems you have gotten plenty of helpful answers!
