mamabear2three
anyone have an awesome timer? I'm looking for something for my 5 year old to motivate her to do activities that are more difficult (like cleaning her room or phonics...) Maybe something with large numbers and colors so it is easy for her to see/understand how much time is left?
wapiti
There are lots of free on-line timers. For a timer to buy, see http://www.timetimer.com/
mamabear2three
We use a lot of the online timers and they help, that is why I was looking for something to buy - it is not always convenient to use my computer and I would like the ability to take it to another room easily. Thanks for the link, that timer looks nice
*Lulu*
If you are looking for colors/visual reminder of time left Learning Rescources has one called Time Tracker that looks interesting. If you are just wanting a plain timer, Target carries one that is very good. We've had ours for 3 years and only had 1 out of 6 break. dragonflyer
A slightly different direction... Have you considered an egg timer? The buzzing sound before it goes off can help remind unfocused kids that they have a task at hand.
BinahYeteirah
I like the Time Timer linked above. We have the 8" model, but the Time Timer Plus looks awesome! My only gripes with the original Time Timer are the low volume of the ending tone and the delicate nature of the red overlay. It looks like the Time Timer Plus solves both those issues. I want one! mom2boys030507
We use the Children's Timer (http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/product/productDet.jsp?productItemID=1%2C689%2C949%2C371%2C923%2C058&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181113&bmUID=1372129693972) from Lakeshore Learning. Each of my boys has one in their desks for indepentant work. But we also use them to help with other focused activities and to help know when lights are to be out at night after having free reading time. Sorry for the long link not seeing how to create a hyperlink from my kindle.
emcap
We use this one. http://www.amazon.com/Datexx-The-Miracle-Cube-Timer/dp/B0002U72LS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1372163701&sr=8-2&keywords=Cube+timer You are limited to 5, 15, 30, or 60 min. journey00
Great post! The time timer looks promising. Those that use it, do you have more than one for multiple kids? Thanks
Mom0012
Great post! The time timer looks promising. Those that use it, do you have more than one for multiple kids? Thanks I only had one, but I only have 2 kids. I'm guessing you will probably use it mostly with your younger ones, since we stopped using ours after elementary. That's when they really need the visual that the time timer gives. After that, I just bought cheap digital kitchen timers from target. ~Anna~
Has anyone used this one? Looking for opinions before I get it. I want one that doesn't make a loud noise when time is up. http://www.ltdcommodities.com/Housewares-%2B-Dining/Tools%2B%252B%2BGadgets/Color-Alert-Timer/prod650158.jmp?navAction=jump&fm=search
